Peste des Petits Ruminants Global Eradication Programme II & III: Overview of the plan of action

In 2015, the international community agreed that PPR could be the second livestock disease to be eradicated by 2030. The first five years of the global eradication programme (PPR GEP I) ran from 2017 to 2021, after which a mid-term review was conducted. Based on lessons learnt during the first five years, and feedback received during the consultation period, the second and third phase of the programme (PPR GEP II and III) have been developed (“”PPR Blueprint””). This document summarizes the plan of action by outlining the key strategies that must be implemented, and the partnerships that must be fostered, to achieve the eradication goal. The intermediate and long-term objectives of the programme are described, and the document also highlights potential risks, and how these can be mitigated.
