
1st GF-TADs Regional Steering Committee for Europe (RSC1 Europe)
The first meeting of the first Regional Steering Committee of the Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases (GF-TADs) for Europe was held at the OIE Headquarters in Paris, on 13 and 14 October 2005. Dr Bernard Vallat, Director General of the OIE, welcomed the participants and explained the Agenda.
Four Recommendations were prepared during the meeting relating to 1) Support of Member Countries of the OIE Regional Commission for Europe to the projects identified under the FAO/OIE GF-TADs. 2) The possible role of wildlife in the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza, 3) Prevention, control and eradication of rabies in Europe and 4) Collaboration between existing networks on activities related to animal health.
