The first Meeting of the Regional Steering Committee of the FAO/OIE GF-TADs took place in Beirut, Lebanon, on 6-7 April 2006. Notable attendees included President of the Regional Steering Committee, Dr George Khoury (Syria) and Vice President’s Dr Joseph Domenech (FAO) Dr Dewan Sibartie (OIE)

The main objectives of the meeting were based around adapting policies and programs to the region needs with regard to epidemiology and prevalence of priority diseases. The main recommendation to come from the meeting was to ensure the harmonisation of Regional Animal Health Activities under the GF-TADs Mechanism.
