44th GF-TADs Management Committee (MC44)

Rome, Italy (FAO-HQ)
6 Dec 2022 - 7 Dec 2022

The 44th Management Committee meeting of the Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases (GF-TADs) met on 6 and 7 December in Rome. Delegates from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH, founded as OIE) gathered in FAO headquarters for a two-day meeting to discuss the concerning spread of transboundary animal diseases (TADs). Recognizing the increasing threat posed by outbreaks of avian influenza and other TADs to food security and livelihoods, the GF-TADs Management Committee discussed the implementation of the GF-TADs Strategy at global, regional, and national levels, as well as specific strategies related to the eradication of peste des petits ruminants, the control of foot-and-mouth disease and highly pathogenic avian influenza, and an African swine fever global initiative.

A discussion with the Partnerships and Financing Panel (PFP) of GF-TADs was held to discuss ways to address TADs control in a more proactive way and to enhance the engagement of the private sector and resource partners in TADs control and sustainable livestock transformation.
