2nd GF-TADs Central Africa Roadmap Meeting for Foot-and-Mouth Disease

The 2nd meeting of the Central Africa FMD Roadmap was organized virtually under the umbrella of the GF-TADs, by its FMD Working Group, during 27-29 September 2022. The meeting bring together representatives of the Central Africa FMD roadmap, with the objectives to share information on FMD virus circulation within the Central Africa FMD virus ecosystem, assess the progress on FMD control of Central African Members, support the implementation of the vaccination strategies, share experiences of successful control measures, gain understanding of the progressive control pathway principles and implementation, update the membership of the Regional Advisory Group for Central Africa to monitor and follow-up the regional FMD roadmap recommendations , update the roadmap (2022-2026) for regional FMD control and enhance the epidemiology (ResEPi) and laboratory (ResoLab) networks.

Central African countries (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and São Tomé and Príncipe) are in FMD virus Pool 5. FMD is endemic in all countries in the region and four different FMD virus serotypes circulate: O, A, SAT 1, SAT 2. The first roadmap meeting for Central Africa took place in Douala, Cameroon during 25-27 September 2018 (report here).
