12th GF-TADs Global Steering Committee (GSC12) - Session 2

Virtual meeting
2 Dec 2021 - 2 Dec 2021

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH, founded as OIE) co-organized the Twelfth Global Steering Committee Meeting (GSC12) of the Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases (GF-TADs) as a virtual event, consisting of two sessions, on 2 November and 2 December 2021.

The first session focused on the launch of the GF-TADs Strategy and engaging the members of the Global Steering Committee (GSC). The main objectives of this session were: clarifying the role of members in the implementation of the strategy; addressing important and concrete subjects for the better control of transboundary animal diseases (TADs) – in order to put the strategy directly into action, the proposed topic was access to quality vaccine; and agreeing on priorities and follow up for the implementation of the GF-TADs Strategy.

The second session centred on providing the members of the GSC with an overview and receiving their recommendations regarding: progress of the global priority TADs control strategies, including the establishment of a partnering and financing panel; and activities at regional levels and the GF-TADs involvement on highly pathogenic avian influenza as a global priority TAD.
